From a humble beginning in 1969, Commercial Electric has grown into a highly respected full service electrical contracting firm.

“With an old pickup truck, a few hand tools, and my garage at 1021 Wabash in Mattoon I started to work”
The business continued to grow and Tomey needed to employ additional workers.
“I belonged to IBEW local 146 which allowed me to get plenty of help including my best and lifelong friend Joe Mitchel Tooley.”
As growth continued a larger facility was needed.
“I was outgrowing the garage and one day saw a for sale sign at 720 S 17th street. I thought that building looks big enough for more that I would ever need. So I purchased the building and we’re still at that location today.”
